Language requirements

All lectures and courses are held in German. German language skills are essential especially with regard to patient contact during practical excercises. Thus it is important that you have an adequate command of German upon arrival. We will not enroll you in any medical courses if your language skills do not meet this requirement.

Language Skills

There are several options to improve the German language skills of Erasmus students.

Intensive Courses before the semester (Humboldt-Universität)

Before each winter or summer semester, there is a four-week intensiv language course which includes a cultural program and the opportunity to receive a language certificate. An assessment test can be taken a few days in advance. For more information see Amt für Internationale Angelegenheiten

Courses during the semester (Humboldt-Universität)

The course is held one a week. An assessment test can be taken a few days before the semester starts.

Courses at the Freie Universität

The Language Center of the Freie Universität offers various German language courses for ERASMUS students before and during the semester.

Courses at the Technische Universität

As an ERASMUS student you can also enrol in the language courses at the Technische Universität Berlin. For more information about the German language course see Zentraleinrichtung Moderne Sprachen.

Intensive courses by Charité International Cooperation

Charité International Cooperation offers a special German course for improving practical language skills for everyday work. Good basic German language skills are required. For more information see  Sprachkurse.
